Superintendent pharmacist and head of compounding, Avnish has over eight years of experience as a registered pharmacist. Shortly after registering, he enrolled on a PhD fully funded by the EPSRC at the UCL School of Pharmacy, Skin and Buccal Drug Delivery Research Group. His PhD project involved rationally designing topical pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations, and determining their performance using in vitro human skin penetration studies and human in vivo confocal Raman spectroscopy. He continued working in this group for a further year as a postdoctoral research associate developing and refining spectroscopic analytical methods and experimental design to track the diffusion of excipients through human skin. He briefly lectured at London Metropolitan University where he taught undergraduate and masters students about pharmaceutical technology and processing. After this, he worked as a cross-departmental research scientist at Syngenta where he worked on an IVCC funded malaria prevention project. Avnish has a diverse scientific skillset that ranges from analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical milling, thermal analysis, nanotherapeutics to microscopy. His use of scientific knowledge drives and ensures patients receive the medicinal products of the highest possible quality.
